If you already have a Digital Terrestrial TV which has been installed in the last 3 to 4 years then you most likely already have the DIGITAL FORTY FOUR services available and ready to watch.
Alternatively, when you first unpack your digital TV or Set Top Box (STB), it will need to be set up according to the manufacturer’s instructions in the product manual. In some cases it will have been pre-configured by the manufacturer; in others you will need to tune or ‘scan’ the TV or STB to find the available services in your area.
Tuning the receiver involves searching through all the TV broadcast frequency bands to look for available Digital services – this is often referred to as scanning. The scanning process itself is usually automated, and can be initiated by the user via the ‘setup’ or ‘configuration’ menu on the Digital TV receiver. As the receiver finds the digital services, it will remember where they are. Once done, when a digital channel number is selected for any given channel, it will decode that signal and display it for you. The process of scanning can take some time – sometimes up to 10 minutes.
After a Digital TV receiver has been “scanned”, you will be able to find DIGITAL FORTY FOUR channels on any channel number starting will a “4”. The DIGITAL FORTY FOUR services will also be listed in the service guide on your receiver.
